TESLA #215


Yay! my EV, Tesla is READY and is being shipped, by truck, TOMORROW to ATL. It will arrive sometime next week. I have paid my last 50k and I the car is mine. Elvira, my oldest, selected the "very orange" color from the palette. So very orange it is, you won't miss me driving through ATL!!! I suspect Tesla the company will die a horrible death soon, but at least I have got the car. Another part of me hopes they will survive, somehow... (200 cars at 100k is 20M, most of which has been spent, they say they produce 20 cars a week that is 2M a week or 100M a year... that would be a real company).

But wait, ah yes.. I live in Madrid :) I am planning a trip to Atlanta around the 20th just to try the car. Interestingly enough, tickets cost $2400 in coach and $600 if you stay a Saturday. I guess I will be staying a Saturday. Yay! Reviews forthcoming.

I have a free slot in my garage. The rednecks up here won't even know what that orange thing is, so it's pretty safe. I'll even put a confederate flag on it, to be sure. How bout it? ;-)

Someones got to give us entrepreneurs in the trenches reasons to keep going. And while 2009 will be our best year yet, it won't be Tesla good.

Nah, you want to keep the car close to home here in Morningside :-) ...

Besides, I hear the situation out in Cobb County where Roy lives has deteriorated to roving bands of the unemployed and angry occupying the large numbers of empty/foreclosed neighborhoods, raiding the occupied houses like the native Americans used to hit pioneer outposts in the 1700s out there!! ;-)

Thug vs Thug: Porsche 1, Hedge Funds: 0

The latest drama is fun. VW became the largest company in the world, in terms of market cap, ahead of EXXON on a little financial market coup d'etat orchestrated by Porsche. Apparently VW stocks was on the way down, I don't know the details but many Hedge Funds (HF) were short the position. Fine. The price goes down. Porsche starts buying the anonymous float (and probably some private too?), but the point is they build a 73% market share without many people noticing. In the US you would need disclosure after 10% or so. Point is, that many HF wake up and realize that their short position is about to lose a lot of money. So what do they do? those idiots? they short cover all together, which means they buy the stock to cover the short. The stock zooms up, by a full multiplier and overtakes EXXON.
