Stop killing people abroad and take care of your own at home. That is a super easy choice for me. That it is debated in the US is the sign of the times.

I was thinking today about something you said to me one night that "in hindsight the iraq war will be seen as genius and Bush vindicated"... This morning I felt it was such a naive statement, delusional really... you were probably regurgitating FOX lines and it did smell like vomit...

so do me a favor go back to destroying the marketing lead industry or whatever it is that you do and stop interrupting adults.

kbyethnksadt43wt342https://www.blogger.com/profile/07557608193924044365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-663998076511109850.post-91675888404201638432010-04-03T08:21:44.903-07:002010-04-03T08:21:44.903-07:00Bill, not sure on the accuracy of the stat, but I&...Bill, not sure on the accuracy of the stat, but I'm sure it's in the range. You do realize however that this bill does nothing to curb the rising costs of health-care... it simply spreads the cost across the (entire) population in a giant Ponzi scheme that will end up just like Social-Security, Medicaid, and Medicare - broke.

Marc, we'll know in November if discontent is limited to the "redneck" Republicans.Roy Russohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09423697973167398758noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-663998076511109850.post-11733743444049063652010-04-02T23:13:28.742-07:002010-04-02T23:13:28.742-07:00The use of the filibuster by the repugs has made a...The use of the filibuster by the repugs has made a mockery of the political system. It has been totally used to block legislation and regain control at the cost of the country. I enjoy watching them anguish over "process" now. So cute. They got what they deserved. Pelosi was clear eyed enough to drive the truck through they bumholes.

The "public" is not stirred-up, redneck republicans are. Watching Fox and hearing Palin is a disgrace. This lead me to believe that something had to be done.

That being said, the cost of the current bill alarms me too, even as a Democrat. That's why I just wish the Republicans had been more willing to compromise. A much better bill would have come out of the whole process. You had special deals going on (with DNC senators) because Republicans uniformly refused to compromise. A uniform NO from the GOP caused the DNC leaders to give special deals to get the full 60 votes to get over a filibuster.

And please don't tell me that Republicans tried to compromise. Its pretty clear that the GOP strategy has been from the beginning to block any Obama legislative effort to undermine both his presidency and the Democratic majority so that they can regain power. Repeal the bill and replace it with something "better". IMO, these guys had their chance to get a better bill and blew it. They had their chance to use their filibuster to push the bill into a new direction and force compromise. Instead, because they were unwilling to compromise, we have a bill that is potentially not edited by fiscal conservatives. I don't want to even talk about all the neo-facist tactics that were used to stir up the public against the bill.Bill Burkehttp://bill.burkecentral.comnoreply@blogger.com
